Daydream Cake Shop-Shirley

Shirley is a young and creative female entrepreneur. Originally from Hong Kong, she moved to the United States at the age of 22. Due to her hectic academic schedule, she started self-learning cake-making as a way to relieve stress. At the time, she learned to create various custom cakes at home through YouTube, and her newfound hobby gradually gained popularity among her friends. Initially, Shirley only took on private orders, but as demand grew, she courageously decided to take her first step into entrepreneurship by opening her own cake shop, Daydream Cake Shop.

Today, Shirley has established four stores in San Francisco's Sunset District and Richmond areas, including three coffee shops under the name Diamond Coffee and Pastry.

During her interview on the KTSF Go Live show, Shirley humbly shared her entrepreneurial journey: “Opening a shop is hard, but the most difficult part is taking the first step. At the time, I didn’t think too much. My gut told me I had to do it, and that instinct allowed me to act quickly during the early stages of my business and continually improve and refine it.” She also noted that with the rise of the internet, many challenges can now be solved by simply searching for answers, making her entrepreneurial process much more efficient.
